Splash into scuba and snorkeling!

Scuba is self-contained, allowing you to swim and to breathe underwater like you breathe on land through an underwater breathing apparatus (tanks filled with air). Snorkeling is swimming on the surface of water while breathing through a tube (snorkel).

Body Energy offers courses for both adults and children who love to be in the water, so the whole family can have fun, excitement and adventure exploring the exotic life underwater.

Courses are taught in a safe and highly enjoyable manner to obtain the maximum fun and discovery for students wishing to explore the beauty of the underwater world for the first time.

Both group and private courses are available. We can even come to your own home if you have a pool that has a minimum of eight feet of water.

Dive trips also can be organized with our very own scuba instructor, Lee Dickey, as the guide.

The following scuba courses are available:

Children: ages 8-14

  • Bubble Makers -- ages 8, 9
  • PADI Seals -- ages 10,11
  • Junior ratings same as Adults below -- 12, 13, 14 -- can be converted to adult at age 15.

Adults: ages 15 an up

  • Open Water -- most common course, entry level
  • Advanced Diver
  • Rescue Diver
  • DiveMaster

Open Water Course:

  • Entry level scuba and snorkeling course
  • $430 for the following:
    • Instruction manual
    • Dive tables
    • Two videotapes (for home viewing)
    • Snorkeling and scuba instruction
      • 6 hours classroom instruction + 2 hours for quizzes and exam
      • 6 to 10 hours of confined water instruction (5 sessions)
      • two weekend days for open water dives (4 dives for final checkout)
    • 2 color passport photos of each student
    • Certification card

Note: Students are responsible for supplying their own mask, fins, snorkel, and wetsuit.

Scuba tips:

  • Start equalizing just before descending and equalize every breath when descending. This prevents ear pressure “squeeze” issues from arising.
  • DO NOT HOLD your breath. This is the cardinal law of scuba diving.
  • Good dive buddies should always be withing arms’ reach of each other when in the water.
